Hunger Attack Snacks

Help me give my students water, snacks and masks to use daily in after school tutoring.

My Students

My students are the epitome of triumph and resilience. With poverty and gun violence plaguing our community, students still enter the building everyday eager to learn and make a positive impact on our school. Students ask many questions about math and science and draw real world connections to their life experiences.

I want to continue to foster my students' inquisitiveness and excitement by allowing them to work collaboratively to solve performance tasks.

Performance tasks increase the rigor of our classroom by allowing students to think critically and creatively, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively.

My Project

By funding this project, my students will have a nutritious snack pack of food to keep learning at home and after school. It is very hard for the students to focus if they have a grumbling tummy. I have found that having food on hand means they can satisfy their hunger and move on to being successful students while learning from a distance. Having food is essential to growth and focus in class.

In a world of uncertainty due to the Coronavirus pandemic, my students' parents are unemployed and students are lacking meals at home.

These snacks will help with hunger. Many of my students stay in after school tutoring just to get their next meal.

Since we have shifted to distance learning at home, I’ve tried many resources to keep their academic skills sharp at home. They simply call or text me to say, "Teacher, I'm hungry", which breaks my heart to hear.
