My Project

HI! I have the pleasure of teaching global studies to 8th graders at a school with a focus on Math and Science. In global studies we learn about how interconnected our world is. We focus on how populations are formed as well as how world globalization has shared impacts on economies, governments, culture and the environment.

The book "Hidden Systems" describes how water, electricity and the internet function and how they have developed overtime.

I would love to have a class set of these graphic novels to allow students to understand the vast systems that we take for granted especially in the U.S.

The use of this book is obviously helpful to our environment and human interaction unit though there are other pieces that show how civilizations have formed differently over time and why certain areas of the world are so vastly different from the United States.

I love bringing students outside of their norm, especial at a STEM focused school being able to highlight the interconnectedness of the world is so important.
