My Project

Dig your feet firmly into the ground, using your arm muscles and leg muscles while gripping the rope. Everyone laughs with anxiety, the rope is taut when coach yells "Pull". I noticed a smile on your face... it did for me. A fun favorite, the age-old classic, Tug of War or Hukihuki.

The 4-Way Tug-of-War Rope Game puts a new spin on a traditional game and adds more ways to have fun.

The equipment will be used to develop teams and engage students to imagine how Native Hawaiians enjoyed the game. One variety, pā‘ani (sports and games), of the Makahiki games that were commonly played is Hukihuki. This game is similar to Tug of War and the mission is to pull the other team across a center line. Team tug of war is great for developing teamwork, build strength and endurance, strategy, and healthy competition.
