I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite those challenges, our school is committed to providing technology availability for all students. However, I am looking to provide my students with the headphones they need for positive learning experience.
100% of students receive free breakfast and 57% receive free or reduced lunch - based on their socioeconomic status.
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly try to control their experience during the school day, by providing equipment for my students to succeed. I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence in our technologically rich world.
My Project
Having Ailihen headphones(in our school colors nonetheless!) for each one of our computers in our computer lab will ensure that each student regardless of socio-economic status will have access to information and classroom activity needed for the 21st century learner. The students involved in Computer Technology courses will be able to listen and re-listen to tutorial videos needed to further explain or support the instructor-lead portion of any lesson. The students enrolled in one of our many online course offerings will be able to be fully engaged with their individualized courses; such as Spanish, French, German languages, as well as, other credit-recovery courses needed to meet graduation requirements.
