Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My scholars are very energetic, optimistic, and eager readers with the grit that is sure to take them on many flights of fancy as they travel from my room to and through college.

My scholars love to read novels and create stories of their own.

Some of them even make their own little comic books. It brightens my day to see their zest for learning and to see them exploring the possibilities beyond the walls of our classroom. They are truly on the road to becoming life long learners and productive citizens in their communities.

My Project

The materials I've chosen for this project will be uses to put novels in hands some of my male scholars. The novels that I've chosen all have strong male leading characters. My hope is that giving my male scholars novels with strong male characters will spark their interest in reading.

Boys tend to shy away from reading and my hope is to break that cycle by starting a book club.

In the book club, the boys will read and discuss novels where the main character is a male. We will even write about the novels and have several fun project centered around the them.
