This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The Internet can provide a world of experiences for my students to explore. They can benefit in every subject area with the programming that can be accessed through the computer. Unfortunately my classroom only has three computers which limits the amount of time each student may use the computer.
My students are kindergarteners who love to use the computers.
They will work together to show each other how they found something particularly interesting on a site. If it is truly an amazing find, a small group will gather to see the new-found discovery. Unfortunately, we only have three computers to use. And one of them may soon meet an untimely end.
The children would benefit from having more opportunities to use the computers. The educational games that they are able to play are highly interactive and engaging. When the children are using the computers they get to have a sense of independence and free choice. I assign them a website to use but then they get to explore all of the wonders that the site has to offer.
My Project
HP laptops would be a great resource to have in the classroom. Having more computers would provide the opportunity for the children to use a computer station every week during our Literacy block. Since we currently only have three computers each child gets to use the computers as a station every other week.
Most of my students live in poverty.
Some have access to the Internet in their homes but most do not. In order to expose them to the world of technology I need to have computers in the classroom. This is a basic need. The children will find the laptops to be highly engaging. It will provide them with endless resources that will enrich their overall school experience.
