My Students

Have you ever tried to carry a desktop computer around with you? Not easy, is it? Although I have a lab full of 4 year old PCs, my students do not have access to a laptop for computing on the go.

I work with children in grades Pre K through 2nd.

Often, after leaving my lab, they want to share what they have done with their classroom teachers, or continue the work we are doing on their own. It is impossible for me to tell them to borrow their workstation and bring it back in a little while. Their workstations are bolted to the desk!

My Project

I would love for students and teachers alike to have access to a high quality portable computer on a daily basis. There are so many educational programs available on the Internet that can be easily accessed through a wireless connection in our building. Students can plug in a flash drive and save, edit their writing, print,or go back and explore a favorite website, even after they have left the computer lab.

Students need to be able to log on and work and explore from many different locations throughout a school building.

This laptop will allow that to begin to happen in our school. I picture a day when all students will have access to a personal laptop. This is a first step in that direction!
