My Students
My students are tired of looking at my back as I teach. My students want to interact with the lesson. The projector and document camera will allow for the students to be in a 21st century classroom by allowing them to interact within the lesson and therefore not be bored.
My students are inner city high school students.
They need to be hooked into lessons to keep their attention. They lose interest if technology is not used in the classroom by them as well as the teacher due to how society is geared on technology. Their school is low on funds, attendance has been a problem among students, and test scores are a priority. The student's interest need to be hooked on a daily basis to improve attendance and test scores.
The school did not get a permanent principal until November and this principal has been presented with a small budget to run the school. Adequate supplies are not provided in all classrooms and therefore some teachers are using their own funds to help the students become successful in their classroom.
My Project
The projector will allow me to show videos of math concepts being taught in an alternate form. The projector will allow me to present animation from my computer. This animation will allow me to show how graphs of various functions differ and the students will get a better view of graphing functions outside of my drawings on the white board. Information websites and PowerPoints will also be presented to give the students more information on how to master the math standards, since we were not given math textbooks from our school district. The students will also be able to give presentations to the class with a projector.
The document camera will allow teacher written notes and examples to be presented to the students and students can also present their written work to the class and therefore teach the class themselves.
Students will gain more confidence within themselves by presenting their work. Confidence is the main component in student success in school and life.
This project will allow me to differentiate my lessons.
Students learn in various ways and technology keeps their interest. This project will allow my students to compete in college and careers by allowing them to master standards presented in the Common Core. I want students to master standards to ensure confidence within themselves.
