My Project
I have selected books my students can learn from. These books have characters about their age going through life and the lessons they learn as they do.
Many of these books touch on the social and emotional health of middle school students. Some deal with traits of gifted children, or being different from others.
These are the kinds of books my students are interested in right now. The fantasy and sci-fi novels are gathering dust. Kids want to read realistic fiction stories about how to navigate life.
I am buying multiple copies so my students can have shared experiences by reading them in small groups and discussing the things they're reading in comparison to the lives they've lived.
