I love providing all the hands-on, mechanical experience I can for my students! They can tinker, experience the cause and effect instead of just reading about it, and learn through experimentation.
Many of my students don't know how electricity gets from the generating station (insert any source) to a lightbulb, but they are so curious about it!
The wind turbines place that experience of how turbine generation occurs in their hands. The content knowledge can then be transferred to discussions about other generational sources; expansions through discussions about infrastructure, efficiency, sustainability, etc.
