'How to Draw'... What Your Heart Desires!

Help me give my students a drawing center! It will be full of 'How to Draw' books as well as different art supplies to use. Hopefully this TAB (thinking for artistic behaviors) center will nurture my students' passion!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our art room we are constantly asking questions and discovering answers! Our school hosts students from kindergarten through eighth grade. I have the pleasure of teaching 5 to 14 year-olds not only about art, but about the world!

Five short years ago, these students were only getting 35 minutes of art twelve times a school year, now they are getting a full hour of instruction every other day.

That's a dramatic increase of 679%! We are drawing, painting, brainstorming, questioning, and learning. We recently sent our art to Japan for an international art contest.

Art class provides my students with a chance to unwind, relax, and discover answers without the stress of being right or wrong. Many of them are becoming more confident in their abilities as time goes on. I can't wait to see how they will impact their school and community with their enthusiasm, compassion, and creativity!

My Project

The furniture and organizational materials in this project will help students learn to draw what they are interested in! The library is already growing, with superhero books, cartooning, portraiture, and animal reference books. Now it needs a home! By helping to fund this project, you are helping students find their artistic voices. This student choice-based center is sure to pique their interest and grow their passion for art.

Students will use these supplies by choosing a book from the library.

Next, they will be able to choose from pencil, charcoal, pastels, markers, pen & ink, or gel pen to do their illustration. The artists in our art room will have the choice of what to draw and will be able to learn a lot from the resources gathered already for the library.
