Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The faces of the New York City classroom consist of students from Bangladesh, Yemen, Iran, Dominican Republic, Mexico and many other places. This is what my two classes of sixth graders looks like.
So many young people, along with their families, have come to America for a quality education and to become a part of the American dream.
English continues to be a second language to all of my students; however, their eagerness to learn and create projects is contagious. The photo is student created and won a prize for respect for all week. The students expressed themselves by identifying what respect means to them.
I've grown as an educator because of these students. It's wonderful watching them progress in a country that offers them something more than their native home countries.
My Project
The school year begins with the crispness of cool air and fall allergies. The Clorox clean-ups, along with the Lysol spray, keeps those germs away. The most important thing is to keep my students healthy and the classroom clean. The wipes will be used daily to clean the desk and the spray will keep the room germ free.
Additionally, the tissues will assist with runny noses and the paper towels will be great for wiping up spills that happen on a daily basis.
Keeping my students safe and healthy will always be my top priority as the challenges of the 2019-2020 school year starts.
