Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is a Head Start class of 3 and 4 year old children. Most of my class is Hispanic and are learning to become bilingual (English and Spanish).
For most of my students this is their first time in a classroom.
We focus on learning and developing appropriate social skills, strong self esteem, creativity, literacy, problem solving and English.
My class needs a variety early childhood level learning materials such as STEM materials, bilingual materials, and culturally representative materials.
My Project
My young students are learning to speak English. For many this classroom is their first educational experience. Since my students have spent the first few years of their lives in a Spanish speaking household, they have had very limited exposure to the English language.
These materials I have selected will help the students to learn the English words for common objects and basic descriptive vocabulary.
I have chosen books as well as hands on materials to help them to practice the new words they have heard in the classroom.
I am excited to introduce these new materials soon. Thank You
