My kindergartners are curious, hands-on and excited little learners! Every day they say or do something that makes me laugh. They come to school always ready to try new things and are so open to learning and growing both personally and academically.
I am moving to a brand new building and my students will get to experience our school for the first time!
I want this experience to be just as a amazing as my students! I want my students to experience a fun and positive learning environment as they begin their educational career.
Each child in my classroom loves learning, although they each go about it in their own way. We incorporate a variety of learning activities, group work, and free play to ensure that each student's academic, social, and emotional development needs are being met. Five year olds are truly a fun and amazing age to teach and I am so thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Play sets the foundation for learning and how we interact in the world. With these materials, my students will have the opportunity to engage and cooperate with one another through play. They will tap into their creativity through building with Mega Blocks, constructing with Tinker Toys, inventing with EMIDO, role-playing with dolls, cooking with kitchen toys, and imagining with Playdough, among many others. They will build their social skills by playing and working together means speaking and listening to one another in a constructive way.
I want my students' learning to be enhanced through the power of play.
Using these materials can and will build on students academic skills in all subject areas. Literacy skills will be enhanced with speaking and listening skills. Students creativity with shine when they make a creation with many of the magnetic or gears toys. The children in my classroom will become engineers, readers, artists, writers, scientists, and mathematicians through play.
It is my hope that my students will use what they are learning in school and apply it to the tools and materials that they play with and vice versa. I cannot wait for them to get started!
