What if you had never seen a mountain, the ocean, a valley, or even a lake? Many of my students have no prior knowledge of Earth's amazing landforms which makes it extremely difficult for them to fully learn how these landforms come about.
My fifth graders are very diverse.
Many of them are African American and Hispanic. They represent many different countries. They get pretty excited about science! They love vivid diagrams and hands-on activities! Most of them have never left our town and have never seen Earth's many features.
My Project
With these models of Earth's changing surface, students will be able to create landforms just as the Earth creates them over millions of years. They'll take a journey through caves, mountains, valleys, and even glaciers. Once they've created the models, they'll read high interest books with vivid diagrams which will help them to better express all that they've learned.
It's no secret that students are struggling in science across America.
Earth science is so difficult for my students to grasp because many of them live in poverty and do not travel further than their apartment complex and the surrounding area. Your donation will bring the changing Earth to life for my future scientists!
