This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are determined to place in the Elementary Battle of the Books this year! Last year they were not able to prepare for the competition and therefore had to sit in the audience and watch. This year we will be ready to compete.

We are a predominately minority, Title I school where 98% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch.

We have not participated in Battle of the Books before and are ready to spread out wings and show the rest of the county just how intelligent we are. All we are missing now are the books.

My Project

In order to participate in Battle of the Books, a school must put together a team of six or more students who are willing to read twelve books multiple times in order to become experts on them. We have the team. Unfortunately we do not have the books! Our students need six copies each of eleven of the twelve books needed to participate in Battle of the Books. On competition day students will be asked questions beginning with "In which book did . . ." In order to answer the sometimes cryptic questions, students MUST be able to read and reread each book as many times as necessary.

Please help make my students dream of being able to compete in the Elementary Battle of the Books come true.

This is a great group of incredibly intelligent students who deserves the chance to show the rest of the county what they can do. Without your help they will not have the books necessary to be able to compete. Please help them achieve this goal.
