This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is a Project Based Learning activity: students need this hands-on project to re-engage with school and life in general after the lockdowns! It starts with a TED Talk that introduces students to the five necessities for colonizing Mars: food, water, clothing, shelter and oxygen. They learn about all the inventions already designed to solve these problems. They choose one invention, study it closely, sketch a diagram, write a short essay and finally, build and present a prototype! Basic supplies include: modeling craft paper (styrene), legos, glue, stationary cutter, spray paint, etc. I am requesting the styrene sheets for my students.
