This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are very active and enjoy being at school. They are very social but are in need of more books and puzzles that will help them identify their feelings. My students did not attend preschool and were at home due to the pandemic. Therefore they need more time learning to deal with their feelings and finding ways to cope with such feelings.
These books and puzzles will help them undertand that we all have feelings and its ok to feel mad, happy, angry, but will teach them how to calm down and express their emotions with words.
Once students learn to regulate their emotions then I can focus on academics. Students need different opportunities to learn social and emotional skills that will help them regulate themselves and will prevent behavior problems in the classroom and will increase academic performance.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
