Houston, We Have a Problem!

My students need classroom tables and flexible seating to help create the perfect environment for collaborative learning.

My Students

Many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes, and will attend several different elementary schools within the same school year. Although they have obstacles and uncertainty in their way, my students are eager learners, and excited about their future.

In my classroom, students learn and explore through small group instruction and peer collaboration.

This helps to provide a sense of community that they may not have otherwise.

As a teacher in a low-income / high poverty school district, my students face challenges both inside and outside the classroom. While I cannot control the challenges outside of the classroom , I can control their school experiences by providing them with a creative and comfortable learning environment.

My Project

Classroom tables and flexible seating options will allow my students to collaborate and create with each other. The 25 hand-me-down desks that we currently have take up a lot of valuable space and are too big for most first grade bodies. This greatly impacts our ability to work and collaborate with each other.

Collaboration is an absolute must when creating a sense of community within a classroom.

Donations for the requested tables and flexible seating options will provide my students with a collaborative atmosphere where everyone feels like they are an important part of our classroom community. I am excited to see what types of new learning experiences my students are going to be able to enjoy when given more space to work with each other.
