it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In the STEAM lab, students learn that science, tech, engineering and mathematics can be creative, exciting, and fun. We have a positive classroom environment that embraces 21st century learning.
My students are incredibly diverse, coming from families that speak languages from all around the world.
My school is a place where these learners, who often struggle, are embraced and supported with a positive learning environment. Project-based learning, personalized learning, and multi modal instruction make sure that every student has an opportunity to learn however they learn best.
My Project
Every Friday I hold an after-school math club for a group of 6-8 grade students. For one hour, we practice practice problems, work together to solve problems, puzzles, and brainteasers. These students come after school of a Friday simply because they love to be challenged. These students truly love to learn and they love a good puzzle.
The puzzles, brain teasers, and books of challenging problems will support my students in developing problem-solving skills and critical thinking as they prepare for a city-wide math competition in the Spring.
Each year, we practice and compete in a local math competition, called Pi5NY. These mathematical Puzzle books and puzzles will give these students a fun opportunity to develop and practice problem solving skills in our afterschool program each week.
