My science students are in the seventh grade and are enthusiastic and curious learners. The majority of my students are in special education and many haven't had the opportunity to explore and learn in a science class prior to middle school.
My students love science class because they are able to have fun while exploring how the world works.
They learn best from working with hands-on materials in the science classroom.
We need more equipment and materials so that my students are able to be hands-on while completing their own labs and experiments. I’m requesting several different tools for exploring how thermal energy is conducted from object to object. Thermal energy transfer kits show students how heat transfers from warm to cold, while the conductometers demonstrate how different metals transfer heat. Using the ball/ring apparatus will show students, in real time, how heat causes metal to expand. I’m also requesting a set of replacement calorimeters to replace our existing old, damaged ones.
