My Students

"If you can say it, you can write it. If you can write it, you can read it." First graders love to tell you stories about their lives. I want to help these students develop a love for reading and writing by helping them get their thoughts organized on paper so they can read it to others.

I have a class of energetic first graders.

They love listening to stories and learning about the authors. Even though our school is situated in a low economic area of Northeast Tennessee, I want to help my students truly believe they can become anything they wish, including being an author.

My Project

My students need pencils, pens, crayons, and paper for their writing. They also need binders and pencil pouches to store their work and supplies. These materials will be used during center time. By having the necessary materials at the center, students can be more independent by getting their materials, start working right away and keeping their materials organized. Binders will store student's work and be sent home weekly for parents to enjoy reading.

Please help fund this project so that my first graders will have the necessary tools they need to become successful writers not only in first grade, but for the rest of their lives.
