My Students
"Miss H, is this the right answer?" This is a question I get asked at least 100 times a day! By obtaining a Hot Dots set for my classroom, I am trying to instill both reading comprehension skills and independence in my students.
I teach in a 5th grade inclusion classroom in a rural setting in southern Delaware.
My classroom consists of a number of different learning styles and abilities. In addition to the range of abilities of my general education students, I also have special education students in my classroom. Many of my students are faced with the challenges of low income backgrounds and have few opportunities available to them. Despite our differences, we are a very unique group of students who love learning and HAVING FUN!!
My Project
I am requesting a Hot Dots Reading Comprehension activity set for my classroom because kids LOVE Hot Dots! Not only are students actively engaged when using the Hot Dots activities, they are HAVING FUN WHILE LEARNING!! Hot Dots provide students with opportunities to practice and reinforce reading comprehension skills such as main idea and reading for details to name a few. Each set of Hot Dots is also leveled. This means that I can quickly and easily differentiate reading instruction while meeting the needs of each and every learner! Each student is challenged regardless of their individual level. Also, Hot Dots provide INSTANT FEEDBACK for students. The student reads a passage, answers a multiple choice questions, and checks their answer using the Hot Dots pens. What could be better than IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK for the student?
By using Hot Dots in my classroom, I want to be able to challenge my students regardless of their reading ability.
I believe that each student has the right to a challenging and beneficial learning experience. I also want to instill in each child a sense of independence, ownership, and responsibility for their learning experience. Please help me as I cultivate the minds of our future generations!
