This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a special education teacher at an elementary school. I've created a positive and productive environment for kindergarten - sixth grade students to learn at their level while closing the educational gap so they can be more successful in their general education classrooms.
I work at a high poverty dual-immersion (Spanish) school.
My students all have mild to moderate learning disabilities that impact their educational experience. They work hard and are determined to be successful. School can be frustrating for them, but in my classroom they are set up to succeed and build confidence in their abilities. They have independent, yearly goals in math, reading, writing and social skills that support their learning in their general education classrooms.
My Project
The Educational Insights Hot Dots activity and flash cards will allow my students to independently practice important math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and telling time. The Hot Dots pens allow them to check their answers on their own. This will be an important part of a new math center I am including in my classroom.
Each student has their own educational goal they are working on.
The Hot Dots activity and flash cards will allow students to practice important math skills on their own and will give me more one on one time with my students. Being able to work independently will also help them build their self confidence.
