My students need 2 sets of 15 National Geographic Activity Cards for Land Animals and Bird and Sea Animals with one corresponding TAG Storage Case and 5 TAG headphones. To meet the needs of all my readers I will also need a set of level D readers with a focus on nonfiction topics.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. R.'s classroom raised $519
This project is fully funded
My school is called an incentive school because of it's high poverty area, ratio of new teachers, and lack of meeting standardized testing goals. I believe the incentive of teaching at my school comes from watching the excitement and joy my students get out of learning. I teach thirty second graders who are eager to learn, but are lacking the previous experience and knowledge they need help them be successful.
Although we take field trips, my students do not come to school with knowledge of the world around them. This makes connecting to and understanding science concepts difficult for them. To further the problem most science reading materials are beyond their level and hard for them to read and understand.
This grant would mean that students in my school could read nonfiction material on their level and with the help of the TAG system they could comprehend science content and learn about animals from around the world. This project would literally be putting the world at my students' fingertips!
Your help will ensure my students gain the science and reading skills they need to succeed not only on state mandated tests but in life.
