I teach a classroom full of eager learners who want to read. Unfortunately, of the thirty second graders I teach nearly half are a year or more below grade level in reading. To remedy this problem I need to give my students direct phonics based instruction. My diverse group of learners do best with instruction that is rooted in the belief of multiple intelligences. My kinesthetic learners need hands-on experiences and opportunities to manipulate letters to create words.
