My students have the desire to learn how to be productive members of society and learn about the world of business.
I teach high school (9-12) Business Education classes in a high need community.
The students in my Business classes want to be able to leave high school and enter college with a better understanding of business. Because our school does not have funding in place to buy the things we need, they are expected to learn from the community and this is not always easy. Vocational money comes from Carl Perkins funding however, in the two years that I have been with my school district we have not received any classroom funding. We need lots of things to make learning more enjoyable in the classroom.
By adding a Video camera and a DVD/VCR combo, my students will be able to come to my classroom to video their presentations and view the presentation at a later time. I will be able to prepare lessons for students who have been out of school and allow them to watch the lesson on video. The benefits are endless. The students will have a access to technology that they have not had since I began teaching at the school district.
Your help will not only help my students but it will also allow them to see what a giving and supportive country we have. While these items will be used in my Accounting, Business Communications, Intro to Finance, Computer Business Apps., and Desktop Publishing classes I feel that Business Communications will benefit the most. Our Frameworks for Bus. Com. require students to conduct a one on one interview, which I could then require them to record and us watch together to show the students what they are doing right and wrong in the process. It will also allow us to watch DVDs and VHS tapes I have that relate to the world of business.
