My Students
Brennemann is a Title One school, meaning 95% of the student population come from low-income families. My students come to school eager to learn and for many, our classroom is one of the only places they can find books to enjoy and practice reading. As a first grade teacher, I am trying to teach my students not only how to read, but to learn to love reading. I have many English Language Learners in my classroom this year and want to provide books for them to read in their home language as well as expand the book choices for ALL of my students.
My Project
As we are almost half way through 1st grade, my students are becoming quite the little readers! My students love to cozy up to a good book during independent reading and practice their reading skills to become stronger, faster, and confident readers. Please help me provide my students with a bigger selection of fun books to read! Currently, many of the books in my classroom library are very old and torn up books that were very generously donated to me at the start of my teaching career. I would love to add a fresh set of books that I know my students will love and enjoy reading.
