My Students

My students are enthusiastic environmentalists and want to learn about the world around them.

I have an almost even mix of girls and boys.

They are mostly standard English language learners. We are very diverse and have one thing in common; we care about our environment. Most of my students are on free or reduced lunch; therefore, I work at a Title 1 school. I have many cultures in my class as well.

My Project

I work at environmental studies school that has a huge science fair in the spring. This year it will be a two day event. We will use the live tadpoles, caterpillars and an aquarium kit, butterfly sanctuary, feeding station, and other supplies to enter the fair and compete by comparing and contrasting the life cycles of frogs and butterflies.

Having these materials donated to my students will make learning pop off the page.

Children will see in real time how tadpoles turn into frogs, and how caterpillars turn into butterflies. They will also learn what is required of them to nurture life to make sure it survives. We need to make sure this learning endures so we can become stewards of our world.
