Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The student body at my school, and specifically the students in my classes, is a diverse melting pot. Located in the heart of San Diego, students come from dozens of cultures and economic backgrounds. This diversity means that these students have a wide variety of opinions, life experiences, and cultural backgrounds. Some students are refugees, attending school for the first time in their lives.

Being in the robotics allows me to use my creativity by letting me build robots, create codes, and challenge myself.

Robotic students are highly motivated and will do amazing things through their own initiative. Elementary and middle school students come to work collaboratively with the high school Robotic students, to inspire them to continue life long learning.

Each year the Robotics team competes in the Botball competition, winning awards such as: Outstanding documentation, Judge's choice for coding, and 3rd place overall. This year our goal is to place in the competition and get nominated for another Judge's choice award.

My Project

Students will get an authentic experience competing against schools of different diversity and economic incomes. They will be developing leadership and collaborative skills by programming and building robots to perform autonomous tasks. Their perseverance will be rewarded by competing at high levels in this competition.

Thrilling, fast-paced, challenging and rewarding, are words that past students have used to describe the Botball competition.

Each year new students gain exposure to this lifetime experience, making it essential for 21st century learning. The skills that the students gain from this competition will help them prepare for and succeed in their future college and career paths.
