Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is made up of 20 amazing learners. They come to class ready to learn despite the obstacles they face prior to stepping foot in the classroom. We are a Title I school and almost all of my students are English Language Learners. My students love coming to school because I make learning fun.

My students work hard each and every day but unfortunately, they need supplies that our school budget does not supply.

This includes special math materials.

My Project

Hoot! Hoot! My smart Mathematicians LOVE to learn all about Math!

During math, my students enjoy rotating to different math workshops while I work with students who need extra support and enrichment.

I try to make my rotations as engaging as possible to keep my students focused while they are away from me. When students are in math workshop, they need games that are fun and that they can play independently or with a small group of peers.

In First Grade, students are expected to learn how to break apart numbers. The materials that I'm requesting include Twist & Turn Number Builders. Students will select a number, then turn the dotted beads to represent numbers from 2 to 12. They build counting skills, number recognition, and more!

I've also included money manipulatives and puzzles. Counting money is very difficult for most First Graders and these materials will help keep my students motivated.

Lastly, I'm requesting clocks. At this time, I do not have enough clocks for all of my students to practice telling time.

By funding this project, you are helping a fantastic group of students meet important state standards. I know that the materials will keep my students engaged and excited to learn math each and every day!
