This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I work with middle school students with disabilities, some with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Having these sensory items and toys at hand will give my students a lot of peace of mind, as they will be able to cope with stress, anxiety, and overstimulating events, as well as focus on their tasks.
Sensory tools can be helpful in helping autistic students explore color, shape, and texture in a fun and immersive way.
Weighted lap pets for calm and companionship, textured stickers to engage their sense of touch, as well as visual stimulation, and sensory tap lights that offer visaul and tactile feedback will all be very beneficial to my students. Creating a supportive and engaging environment is key to fostering connections with my students. They'll very much appreciate the effort you're putting into making their learning space comfortable and enjoyable. I appreciate your help in making this possible for my students.
