Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My dynamic students are kind and respectful, they come to class excited to learn. They are bilingual and some come with little to no English language background, but they persevere. We are a Title I school and all my students receive free school lunch.
In my classroom, students enjoy learning and sharing their knowledge with one another.
Our students know we have their best interest at heart and understand that knowledge is power.
They know they have the support of their teachers and we work closely with their parents. When we have parent/teacher conference we have 100 percent parent participation.
My Project
At the Pathfinders Institute, I will receive training on how to bring the Junior Botball Challenge to my students. The program will assist us in receiving equipment, software and assist in creating an engaging curriculum for my students. Our student will learn how to code their Botball, by planning and prioritizing and persevering when programming as well as learn from trial and error.
This program will benefit students skill sets and they will be able to take this learning to other subjects such as math, language arts, and science.
At our school, we currently do not have a STEM program. Having this training will allow me to roll out an effective, and productive program for our students. The skills they acquire will encourage them to explore the use of technology and gain resilience through perseverance of problem-solving.
