My Students
I work in an urban school with minimal resources. It is a trauma sensitive school in the heart of town. I would like my students to come to school and not worry about school supplies.
My students are high energy and can be very engaging with the right tools.
They look for positive stimuli to help them focus on learning.
I have a multi-cultural mix of students from urban America, Africa, and South America. Their reading levels range from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. They can be very excited with manipulatives that concretize their learning.
Looking forward to educating them to be successful adults in a life-long adventure of learning!
My Project
I am requesting sand timers, magnetic write & wipe off boards, dry erase markers and some privacy partitions to help my students focus on their best work. The sand timers help students partner up and check each other for fluency reads. This challenges them to push for fluency by readily knowing their basic sight words in this grade.
I am asking for 2 sets of magnetic write and wipe off boards so students can essentially use the same materials to work in small group setting.
Students can go from working with the teacher and go to their guided practice using what they just used. It erases all confusion and switching over to different kinds of materials.
