My Students

I am a first year teacher from Oklahoma, and my students come from various social and economic backgrounds. We began our first week of school with the adventure of virtual learning. Within the first few days I realized that my second graders are kind. They are patient - with me, with each other, and with technology. But most importantly, they are resilient.

My students are eager to learn.

By Week Two, we were back in our classroom, and it was obvious that they could not wait to be back at school. More importantly, they could not wait to work with their classmates. I end each day with the biggest smile because these second graders radiate positivity.

My Project

Our classroom is in need of reliable headphones. We are so fortunate to have access to several online programs that are individualized to meet the needs of our students. We use these online programs as a center rotation, so I am able to meet with small groups. My students love these programs. They are even more beneficial this year because there are so many gaps that need to be filled from missing the last quarter of first grade.

Having headphones that my students can hear through will allow them to work on our iPads and me to work in small groups with fewer interruptions.

We will no longer have to stop our instructional time to untangle headphones, ask students to lower the volume on their iPads, or try to figure out why they cannot hear through the headphones. Having a class set of headphones also reduces the spread of any germs! If we have a pair of headphones for each student, we will not have to share and sanitize between each use.
