My students are very lucky ducks! The fifth grade curriculum at my school allows access to iPads, Chromebooks, computer lab, music education, and art lessons. STEM education is also becoming very popular on Friday afternoons in the upper grade classrooms.
I want my students to remember fifth grade as the time they realized education is important, worthwhile, and fun!
I believe fifth grade is the transitional time where students begin to exercise the steps of critical thinking, reasoning, logic, and most importantly, the various ways to problem solve.
The Common Core Standards are striving to give more opportunities for kids to explore their world and find ways to relate to their community and country. Because of this, I'm looking to provide resources to further their knowledge of the world and the growing technology that will be part of their higher education. By helping the students of our school, you will be contributing to their awesomeness!
We are requesting brand new jump ropes and hula hoops for upper grade P.E. time. Hula hooping is a learned skill, and boy do kids have fun practicing! The current hoops we have are bent and out of shape, so replacing those is first priority. Jump ropes are also an individualized skill that many kids find challenging. By purchasing long jump ropes, students will get to play together and learn new games like Double Dutch.
By providing a variety options for physical education, like hula hoops and jump ropes, our goal as teachers is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.
Kids love outdoor play, so why not offer more options and games to do so? Hula hoops and jump ropes will be stored in a safe place, and the new cart will help us organize the equipment too.
I sincerely thank you for any donation toward this project. Kids grow through play, so let's get outside!
