My Students
I am a volunteer for youth sports in my spare time. This spring I will be helping 5th-8th grade athletes improve on their basketball skills.
I believe good things come to those who work- Wilt Chamberlain
By day I am a teacher of 16 kindergarten age students who love school! I teach 16 kindergarten-age students who love school! The kids that enter my classroom each day are spunky, creative, and eager to learn! My classroom houses students with a wide range of academic and social abilities, including students with special needs. Most of my students come from low to middle-income homes. I strive to give them the loving and supportive environment that they deserve while they are in my care so they can have the best chance of succeeding both academically and socially. They are amazing and make me strive to be the best educator that I can be.
My classroom is full of students from a variety of backgrounds, but when we come together we are a family who grows and learns together.
My Project
The SASD basketball program is taking time this spring to invest in the younger athletes and will be holding a Shooting/Scoring camp for 5th-8th graders. There are dedicated coaches and volunteers that are eager to work with these athletes and help them improve on their shooting skills. They are in need of basketballs that are lighter than the traditional ones. These lighter balls will allow the athletes to train easier and get a grasp on ball handling and proper shooting form before advancing to regulation size and weight balls. These dedicated coaches and volunteers have some great options for these athletes to participate in throughout the summer as well. These basketballs will impact the training and growth of many athletes in the years to come.
