My students need stopwatches to help them collect data and better analyze speed and velocity. Also a Soda Bottle Physics kit will allow us to do some discovery learning.
We need to keep time! Students in my classroom need to be able to use stopwatches to help them with collecting data for Physics labs. We have been counting aloud in order to estimate velocity and speed. We would love to be more accurate!
The students in my 7th grade science class are some of the hardest working, thoughtful students.
My students go to school from 8-5 at a public charter school with a mission to send every kid to college. We are in Eastern North Carolina in a high poverty area that faces many challenges. These kids are the exception to stereotype about rural students!
My Project
By providing my students with the resources they need, they have the opportunity to have at least some of the things that other schools have in more affluent areas. Can you imagine trying to time things by counting aloud? These students deserve the chance to work with basic lab tools such as the stopwatches. In addition, I am also requesting a Soda Bottle Physics kit to be used as a demonstration of Newton's Laws. Discovering the laws will be much more powerful than just learning about them in class.
Donations to this project will ensure that we have more hands-on activities not only for the Physics unit, but also for the rest of the year as we learn about how science is everywhere and in everything.
Thank you for considering helping this deserving group of students!
