My students need work work and phonics activity kits to implement during our literacy centers.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I'll understand" Chinese proverb. This quote is a perfect way to describe a typical day in my classroom. Children learn in different ways. I strive to incorporate a variety of learning strategies to ensure each child's success.
My students are bright, ambitious and eager learners.
I have been extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach Special Education at an extremely poor Title I school in the city of Chicago. Even though it has become extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating to educate without needed supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn. Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching material, and if they do, the funds are used for older students. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials. Therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning so my students can succeed in life.
My Project
My students will use these materials to help reinforce the skills of our reading programs. In order to read, students need a strong foundation of phonics skills. The independent work center materials will engage students in learning while I am working with small reading groups. The students will work through the phonics activities to enhance skills that have previously been taught. These materials will allow for whole class review while helping children learn letter sounds and blending those sounds together to make words. Learning centers are essential because they address team work, problem solving, and time management, as well as independence. The resources requested will allow my kids to work together on their own time. These materials will benefit countless students for years to come.
Your generous donation will provide my students with disabilities the extra support they need to become successful and confident readers.
The students are already putting forth the extra effort it takes to be an independent reader, but I must provide them with the resources they need to achieve their goals. This is difficult to do with a lack of supplies and funding, which is why your help is so very important and much appreciated. You are enhancing the learning experience of so many students!
