My Students

Teachers aren’t supposed to have favorites, but this current class of third-graders might be my favorite. They are curious, determined, and excited to be back at school. They have adjusted quickly to the new school rules and procedures. They celebrate each other's successes and are ready to support and encourage each other. I want to provide the best environment for them learn and grow this year.

My Project

I have always loved to read and can easily lose myself in a book for hours. As a teacher, I have realized that many students are not that way. Some flat-out dislike reading. In our class, we discuss the many benefits of reading and often share the books that we are currently reading. We make reading goals and work together to meet them.

However, the best way to inspire a reader to keep reading is to provide them with a wide variety of high-interest, just right books.

With this project, I am hoping to build up our classroom library and get students to find and read books that they truly love. Please join me in helping my students become lifelong readers!
