Hooked on Books: A Love for Reading in Every Heart!

Help me give my students high interest graphic novels for our library and reading groups!

My Project

My students who love graphic novels quickly read through every book on the shelf. We need more graphic novel choices to help keep our growing readers reading.

I would like to add high-interest, engaging, graphic novels to expand our classroom collection and promote a culture of literacy among our students.

When students visit the library, many flock to the graphic novel section. Reading graphic novels not only improves comprehension but also skills such as inference, memory, and sequencing.

The graphic novels in this project span several genres, expanding the options that students will have for independent choice reading. The content in many of the graphic novels, such as Squished, Allergic and the Baby-Sitters Club series, are age and developmentally relevant to my students. They show the successes and struggles of characters working through real-life issues such as growing up, and fitting in.
