Ms. Coleman from Rex GA is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need method books to learn the fundamentals of band literature: woodwind and brass.

Science fair winners; innovators; spelling bee champions; all-star athletes; students of the second STEM certified program in the state of Georgia. Those are my band students. They spend countless hours preparing for those titles, but even more time prepping for band performances. It is these things that make them well-rounded, culturally aware and diverse citizens, as well as forerunners of academic excellence.
The Rex Mill Band is filled with effervescent and bright
musicians. Majority of the students owned their instruments, but now, more and more use school horns, and rely on the ensemble to provide a method book. The students strive for superior and excellent ratings. Method books would aid us in reaching that goal.
My students need method books to learn the fundamentals of band literature: trumpet, flute, and alto saxophone. Think back when you were in band or orchestra. Or think about a family member or friend that was in a music ensemble. Do you remember those paperback books you/they used? With your contribution each student will be assigned a book to use throughout the school year. They will not have to share books with one another, jeopardizing their posture and playing position. We will be able to use the interactive c.d. enhancing a fun-filled environment.
The donations from this project will improve my classroom because every student will have access to a book.
They will not have to fight over and share them. They will use the books in class and have the ability to take them home in order to practice. The interactive c.d. will provide accompaniment, making the at home experience just as fun and pleasant as our class. As a result students will become independent learners. We can reduce the amount of damage that is brought upon the books throughout the school year- there won't be any missing pages. The students are going to be pumped and will want to take care of them.
