This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For many of our students, this is their last chance to earn a high school diploma. They walk through our doors not because it’s easy, but because they refuse to give up on themselves and their dreams. They juggle jobs, families, and responsibilities, yet they still show up—determined to build a better future. Their resilience is inspiring, and we want to celebrate them in a way that reflects the strength and perseverance they bring to our school community every day.
This event is more than just a ceremony; it’s a recognition of the sacrifices they’ve made, the obstacles they’ve overcome, and the hope they hold for the future.
The materials we are requesting will help create a space where students can share this moment with their families—the people who have supported them, believed in them, and in some cases, watched them struggle for years to reach this milestone.
As part of this celebration, we want students to leave behind a legacy—a collaborative mural that will adorn our hallways, reminding future learners that they are not alone, that others have walked this path before them, and that success is possible. This mural will serve as a symbol of perseverance, unity, and belonging, reinforcing that their journey matters.
We hope to provide our students with more than just a diploma—we want to give them a sense of pride, a moment to pause and recognize how far they’ve come, and the confidence to keep going. With your support, we can create an event that honors their journey and inspires others to take that first step toward changing their lives.
