Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Boys and girls in my first grade are imaginative, happy, and passionate learners who enjoy doing interesting, hands-on activities to learn. My students are eager to enjoy and study as Lunar New Year approaches! I introduce the many holidays observed by different cultures to my students every year. I would like to spend a week honoring Lunar New Year with crafts, art, food sampling, and presentations diving into the importance of the celebration and exposing them to cultural competency as a way to introduce and expose them to the celebration and its meaning.

Our school is a public Title I K- Elementary School with 50% of the come from low-income homes.

I have been using Panda Express's online curriculum for the Lunar New Year for the past few years, and this year, since my kids are always so interested in the subject, I would love to dive a little deeper and study even more. Students will be able to learn about different traditions and festivities, honoring of ancestors, and the celebration's wish for good fortune and prosperity through the books. With the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I will also be able to buy games and activities for the kids that will complement the curriculum and my grade level expectations as we celebrate. This kind donation allows for prizes and much more to be  awarded. Students can contribute to stocking the classroom with incredible decorations made by them.
