My Project

Help Me Celebrate My Students With the Recognition They Deserve.

The Need:

Last year, I personally purchased graduation stoles for 16 of my top-performing students — my "MVPs" — because our school didn’t have the resources to provide caps and gowns. I wanted to give them something to mark their achievement: to feel proud walking across the stage, and to be seen by their families and community.

But, every student deserves to feel that recognition! This year, I want to do more.

I teach in an underserved community in Oakland, and many of our students face daily challenges that go far beyond the classroom.

Promotion is a big deal. It's not just a celebration of academic growth, but of perseverance, resilience, and strength; stoles are symbols of achievement, pride, and belonging.

What We’re Asking For:

This project will fund graduation stoles for the entire class, ensuring every student has something meaningful to wear and keep as a reminder that their hard work matters, and that someone believed in them — even you, the donors!

Why It Matters:

For students who may not have traditional graduation wear, a stole provides a moment to remember. A photo. A memory. A milestone they accomplished.

By supporting this project, you’ll be giving my students a way to be honored equally, to feel seen, and to walk across the stage with the dignity and recognition they’ve earned.
