Honoring Excellence Recognizing Students for Their Effort
Help me give my students the recognition they deserve for their ability to be kind, respectful, and responsible by contributing incentives to my project.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm the school community Liaison at my elementary school. Our students are the number one reason I work as the school community liaison. Not only is their academic success a priority for me, but their social-emotional growth and their social and cultural development are also extremely important. In our school community, we teach our students to be safe, to be respectful and to be responsible. By teaching these 3 school rules, we are not only teaching them to be nice to their classmates, but they are learning the importance of caring for others outside of school as well.
As part of our program, students who have been recognized by a teacher or staff member for being safe, respectful and responsible have the chance to visit the office and receive an incentive.
These incentives reinforce their positive behavior and encourage students to make good choices. The color pencils, soccer balls, bracelets, sensory toys, etc. will be use to reward our students for helping to make our community a safe and a respected place to be.
