My students need materials such as tripods, green screens, and props to create green screen videos in order to complete research projects on a variety of insects.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Ballou's classroom raised $474

My Students
Our school has a long history embedded into the community we serve. Students are excited to attend school where many of their parents and even grandparents went before them. I have an exciting opportunity to start a STEAM Resource program for the first time! When you walk into my classroom you won't see students sitting in desks diligently taking notes, instead you'll see students brainstorming ideas, drawing images, building models, testing their solution, and more!
My students are spunky, inquisitive, and hardworking.
"I never knew school could be this fun!" a student shouted to a group member as they were working on a STEAM project. It is moments like these that push me to ensure that my students always have opportunities for hands-on, real-life learning experiences. It is wonderful donors, like yourself, that can help me to provide these experiences to our youngest learners!
My Project
Do you remember what it felt like going to the movies for the first time? It was fun, thrilling, and you probably dreamed of becoming an actor or actress some day. As a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) teacher, part of my goal is to introduce students to a variety of STEAM careers, such has movie production. STEAM is truly embedded into writing and producing films. In order to give my students a glimpse at this type of career path, I want to bring the screens to them!
While, students are shrinking, our props are growing and we'll be part of the movie!
My students will be completing research projects on insects. Who doesn't love mud, dirty, and the insects that crawl in them? Well, some students don't, but I'm here to break that barrier for them. By learning about insects, students will see how they are vital to our ecosystems, while also learning how to create their own green screen movies. Can you imagine learning about spiders, butterflies, bees, and more?! They will use the green screens with our iPads to create backgrounds for our films. Students will become part of the insects’ environment as they teach us all about them. The tripods will allow group members to easily film the videos without shaking the iPads. The props will help make the videos more engaging for the audience. You can help make this a reality for my students as we become part of our own films!
