Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day at morning meeting we share how we are feeling that day and why. The majority of my students say they are happy because they are in school. We also share a goal for the day. Again, most of my students say their goal is to get better at reading (or math, or science). They all receive a free breakfast at school, and most of them receive free lunch as well. We are a neighborhood school, and most walk to school with their parents or older siblings. They are truly a great group of kids that want to learn despite some of the daily hardships they may encounter.
My Project
My students need one consistent place in which to write their homework in daily. The planners will serve as a tool to help them keep track of their homework and also help with organization skills. Right now I am printing out sheets weekly for them to write on but some students are losing them. The student planners will allow the students to have one book in which to write their homework and keep it organized. There is also a place for teacher and parent comments. This will help keep parents involved and better informed of the homework and allow a place for them to communicate with me daily.
