I have been teaching for 6 years and I still love going to work every morning. My first year teaching I eagerly accepted a position in a Title I school and have never looked back. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Many of my students come from rough home lives and school is their reprieve.
My goal for my students every day is that they feel safe and supported at school.
I look forward to growing as a teacher for them.
My Project
This specific professional development will help me become a stronger literacy teacher. It will directly impact my students reading & writing through learning new strategies in teaching. These new strategies are highly researched by Jennifer Serravallo & the staff developers at the Teachers College Reading & Writing Project. I look forward to learning from the experts!
My students will benefit from me having this training by having a clearer picture of literacy and where they are on a continuum of learning.
I can use the knowledge of where they are in their learning to help them set goals and use my new found strategies to help them achieve those goals.
