My PreK3 students are some of the most amazing children I have ever met. They live in one of the most dangerous communities in our nation's capital and some have gone through more in their young lives then many of us will every have to endure in a lifetime. Every day they walk down a hill to school where they are able to escape the violence that riddles their neighborhood. Despite all of the challenges they face outside the school walls, they still come to school each day ready and excited to learn.
My 3 year olds thrive on the educational and enrichment opportunities being offered to them which helps them to build their background knowledge and expose them to things they otherwise wouldn't be exposed to.
Many of them would not have any opportunities to build their educational foundations if it wasn't for being enrolled in school.
My Project
These school supplies and materials will help support student learning at home and further their early education. The plastic storage boxes will be used to store all of the school supplies they will need to complete homework and class assignments at home. The school supplies for the box include scissors and glue for cut and paste activities, crayons for coloring activities, and paper and pencils for writing activities.
I have seen first hand how having these simple school supplies at home and a place to keep them organized can further a child's education in a year.
These supplies not only help the child to complete homework, but they also allow for students to complete assignments and activities when they are unable to come to school so they do not have to miss out on any learning. .
